VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!

 

The Hands to Heart Children's Center needs volunteers for the after school homework help program.  Homework help volunteers are needed Monday thru Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-5:00 pm.  Volunteers are also needed for FUN Friday activities.  This is a one/two night commitment per month. 

 

The H-Town Teen Center needs volunteers for Monday thru Wednesday evenings, 6:30-8:30 pm.  These volunteers should be flexible-willing to help with homework or just "hang out".

 

The Teen Center is also looking for mentors for our teens (males and females).  These mentors would serve as liaisons between parents and the school system and also encourage the teen in their school work/attendance.  These mentors should try to be present at the teen center at least one/two nights per month.  Mentors will be required to submit to a background screening.

 

RESPECT is a new program established by Hands to Heart, Inc.  It is a long-term program for 6th-8th grade girls to ensure successful completion of high school.  We want each girl to have a mentor.  The mentor and participant will attend two programs a month beginning in January.  The programs will be on Monday evenings from 6-8 pm.  The programs will range from self-esteem and trust building to career development and sexuality.  If participants successfully complete the program, each will receive a $2,500 college scholarship.  "Successful completion" means attending the scheduled programs, no pregnancies and no reported illegal drug use throughout Jr. High and High School.  Mentors should be willing/able to invest time by calling or visiting at least once a week.  Mentors should also be willing to submit to a background screening.  This program is limited to 10 participants and mentors this year.  Interested parties should call the phone number listed below to receive an application.
