To register for a course on STARS

To register for an event on STARS, you need to do two things and you can do them in either order.

1)  Log In

        You are going to need your State ID number, birth date, and the last four digits of  your SSN

        Your state ID number is the number on your current license/certificate.  It looks something like this:       MM1 - 21 - 4567

        There are several ways to get this number:

a)  from your current license/certificate

b)     within STARS

click STARS login from STARS homepage, left-hand column

click “Click here to find your ID”

you will need to know what YEAR you earned your last degree.  If, like me, you are too old to remember that exact year, you can’t use this method.

c)      From the page you are on in STARS, click the “TOPIC” tab near the top of the page on the right

Choose “Certification”

Choose “Individual Certification Data” from the left hand column

You will need to know your SSN and last name (easy enough for most of us).

Your State ID number is the IDENTIFICATION number above your name.  It looks something like this:  MM1234567.   Write it down.

IF YOU ARE NO LONGER   IN THE STARS AREA, click the “DATA” tab near the top of the page.  Choose “STARS”

2) Locate your event

            a)  From within STARS, click “Event List” from the left hand margin

            b)  Narrow the list of events by

                        1)  Choosing the month of your event from the drop down menu of the Regional Calendar

                        2)  Choose correct year from the drop down menu

                        3)  Type a descriptor (OMAP,  SIRI,  OSCI, etc)   in the Keyword blank

                        4)  Click “Show Events for Selected Criteria”

            c)   Click on the little icon at the left hand side of the event you want

d)     Check info to be sure you have the correct event.  Use “back” if you don’t.

e)     Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Continue Registration”

f)        Complete your Registrant Information for and click “Submit Registration”

g)     Print a copy of the confirmation letter.
