Butler County ESC is Tinkering with Stem with Office Depot and Fairfield City Schools
Thursday, April 13, 2017

On Saturday, April 29, the Butler County Educational Service Center (BCESC) is inviting Fairfield City School students, kindergarten through 8th grade, to attend Tinkering with STEM, a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) event at the Bridgewater Falls Office Depot. The BCE
SC is able to offer the conference at no charge to the students or to the school district through its partnership with Office Depot.

“The Tinkering with STEM family learning event at Office Depot will introduce the Fairfield School students and their parents to the Makerspace concept of providing students the opportunity to imagine, create, and innovate as they quest to solve real-world problems. On April 29, students can expect to have fun with drones, robots, and coding!” said Georgine Bowman, Curriculum Director at BCESC.

blogThe BCESC Curriculum Department launched TinkerTANK, a mobile Makerspace, to travel throughout the community

bringing the Makerspace concept to schools and businesses. By teaming up with Office Depot through their education program, BCESC can introduce families to both the concept and some of the tools of the TinkerTANK program.

“The TinkerTANK Mobile Makerspace can provide schools and businesses with everything from robots and coding programming to cardboard boxes and legos. The idea being these tools will spark creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration while promoting innovation through fun, hands-on learning,” said Bowman. “We’re excited to partner with Office Depot to introduce our families to Makerspace.”
