State Board Member Charlotte McGuire Visits Butler County Educational Service Center
Thursday, February 16, 2017

State Board Member Charlotte McGuire Visits Butler County Educational Service CenterOn Wednesday, February 15, newly appointed State Board Member Charlotte McGuire, Dayton-District 3, visited the Butler County Educational Service Center (BCESC).

McGuire met with BCESC Board Member Mary Pritchard, BCESC Superintendent Chris Brown, BCESC Treasurer Ken Ulm, BCESC Success Supervisor Cari Wynne, BCESC Director of Human Resources Laura Theiss, and the Butler County Family and Children First Council Executive Director Heather Wells.

McGuire is making a point to visit the constituents in her district, discuss her journey to the State Board of Education, and to listen to the missions, ideas, and concerns of her school districts and Educational Service Centers. At today’s meeting, the BCESC explained the organization’s mission to McGuire and shared their passion for serving the children, families, and communities in Butler County and beyond.

“As an ESC, our mission is to provide services to students, families and districts so all children, no matter their background, receive a quality education and a path towards a fruitful future. Any person who comes through our door or meets with one of our staff members in the field knows we truly live our motto of ‘partners in shaping lives,’” said Laura Theiss, Director of Human Resources at BCESC.

Since McGuire took office in January, this was her first time to visit the BCESC, but not her first time to hear about some of the programming.

“We appreciate Mrs. McGuire taking the time out of her day to come visit the Butler County Educational Service Center and allowing us the opportunity to discuss all the great things we do here. It’s refreshing to know Mrs. McGuire not only wants to hear from us, but also sought us out to learn about the ESC and how we can work together as partners,” said Chris Brown, Superintendent at BCESC.

After the meeting, McGuire went to visit a Head Start classroom and meet with the staff and parents.
