Program Options
Partners in Early Childhood Education
BCESC Early Childhood Programs classrooms are child-centered and designed to stimulate creative exploration, support social competence, and prepare children for a successful transition to kindergarten. We offer a variety of program options to meet the needs of children and families in Butler County.
Early Head Start
BCESC Early Head Start is a year-round program for families with pregnant mothers and children up to age three. It provides an opportunity for parents to encourage their child’s healthy development. Together, the parents and Home Visitor create a home learning environment that will help the child grow and develop socially, intellectually, emotionally and physically.
In the Early Head Start program a Home Visitor visits the family’s home to work with parents/guardian on the developmental goals they have for their child. The Home Visitor comes to each family’s home once a week for 1½ hours and brings fun activities. The Home Visitor also helps families link with needed community resources. Twice a month the Home Visitor, children and parents get together for a playgroup at the Early Head Start Infant/Toddler center. This is a chance for children to be with other children and for parents to share thoughts and ideas.
Head Start
Established in 1965, Head Start is the most successful and longest running national school readiness program in the United States. BCESC Head Start is federally funded, providing premier early learning education to eligible 3-5 year olds. Head Start is a half-day, four or five days per week program option (depending on location). There is no cost to families for this preschool program which prepares children for the challenges of kindergarten.
Therapeutic Interagency Program (TIP)
The Therapeutic Interagency Preschool (TIP) program is a county level collaboration between Children Services, Head Start, and local mental health and speech agencies. The TIP program option is a part-day, year round preschool program for 3-5 year old children and their families which provides center and home-based services, including various assessments; diagnosis and treatment; center-based classroom services; and interagency treatment coordination. The families enrolled in TIP are referred to the program by the Children’s Services Board.
School District Collaborations
BCESC Early Childhood Programs has strong early learning partnerships established to meet the needs and interests of each unique Butler County School District population. These positive, on-going relationships allow each school district to tailor services to meet the needs of the children and families, while providing premier preschool programming through a variety of funding sources.
