Step 1 What to Do
What should I do if I am injured on the job?
1. Report the injury to your supervisor immediately and contact the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources (513) 887-3713.
2. Seek treatment from a BWC-Certified medical provider. In case of emergency seek immediate treatment from the nearest medical facility or call 911. Butler County ESC's preferred urgent care/medical provider is:
- Bethesda Care Butler County
8500 Berk Blvd.
Hamilton, OH 45015
(513) 874-3990
Hours: M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
3. Inform the attending physician Butler County ESC has a "transitional work program" (in the event you cannot return to normal duties).
4. Immediately complete the Employee Incident/Accident Report and return it and any other pertinent documentation to the Nurse or Human Resources office within 48 hours.
5. Notify the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources (Lori Thesken) immediately if the physician places you off work.
If the injury is minor, do I still have to report it?
You should tell your supervisor/principal about any work-related injury, no matter how small. Without proper medical attention, even a simple situation can lead to problems and the incident/injury needs to be documented.
Do I have to use a BWC-certified medical provider?
Yes, under the Ohio BWC Health Partnership Program (HPP) you must seek treatment from a BWC-certified medical provider for work-related injuries. If you do not, the Ohio BWC will not pay for your care. However, if it is an emergency, your initial care will be covered for a non-BWC certified Provider for a work-related injury deemed compensable by the Ohio BWC. Check with your physician or check for BWC certified providers at www.ohiobwc.com.
