The Butler County Educational Service Center (BCESC) announced its Summer Camp Program lineup. Each summer, BCESC offers a variety of summer enrichment to area youth that emphasizes both academic and social components that lead to positive outcomes for students through increased student motivation, self-confidence, social interaction, collaboration, communication, and understanding of the application of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) skills in the real-world.

“At Butler County ESC, we’re thrilled to offer another round of fun and engaging summer enrichment camps to the K-12 youth in the tri-state area,” said Georgine Bowman, Curriculum Director at BCESC. “Using feedback from the previous summer, my staff and I plan all year to expand and improve the BCESC summer camps.”

Every BCESC Summer Camp is interactive, engaging, and hands-on and is designed to ignite students’ long-term interest when thinking about their future. The programs offered are based on student interests and educational trends, hence a varied range of opportunities are provided that cover multiple areas of interest.

“Back this year, Construction Camp! This is a five-day, all-day camp where the kids not only get to build and construct, but they’ll also learn about the construction industry, both educational and career options,” said Dave Baker, Leadership Specialist at BCESC. “Last year, the campers built their own corn hole boards as well as wheelchair accessible picnic tables that they donated to the Hamilton Parks Conservancy.”

The goal of the BCESC Summer Enrichment Programs is not only to have fun in the summer, but also for the students’ experiences to translate directly into student interest in learning skills and pursuing educational pathways that are needed to take advantage of job opportunities in the future.

The 2018 programs include: Drone Camp, Construction Camp, Kids CAN Code!, Rockin’ Robots STEAM Academy, Camp Delicious Culinary Camp, Hummingbird Robotics, and Gaming Engineers!
