Register Today: Summer Enrichment Camps Announced
Friday, March 31, 2017
The Butler County Educational Service Center (BCESC) announced its Summer Enrichment Program lineup. Each summer, BCESC offers a variety of summer programming to area youth that emphasizes both academic and social components that lead to positive outcomes for students through increased student motivation, self-confidence, social interaction, collaboration, communication, and understanding of the application of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) skills in the real-world.
“At Butler County ESC, we’re thrilled to offer another round of fun and engaging summer enrichment camps to the K-12 youth in the tri-state area,” said Georgine Bowman, Curriculum Director at BCESC. “Using any notes and comments from the previous summer, my staff and I plan all year to expand and improve the BCESC summer camps.”
Every BCESC Summer Enrichment Program is interactive, engaging, and hands-on and is designed to ignite students’ long-term interest when thinking about their future. The programs offered are based on student interests and educational trends, hence a varied range of opportunities are provided that cover multiple areas of interest.
“New this year is the Maker Camps for Kids for ages 6-8, which is a camp where ideas become reality when the kids explore their imagination to design and build their innovative idea,” said David Vernot, Curriculum Specialist at BCESC.
The goal of the BCESC Summer Enrichment Programs is not just to have fun in the summer, but for the students’ experiences to translate directly into student interest in learning skills and pursuing educational pathways that are needed to take advantage of job opportunities in the future.
The 2017 programs include: Maker Camp for Kids, Innovation Camp Quest, Let’s Move!, Hummingbird Robotics, Gaming Engineers, Camp Invention, Kids CAN Code!, Camp Delicious Culinary Camp, Waterbotics Camp, and two Construction Camps.
